Reporting & Columns

I have worked for over three years as a field reporter, investigative journalist, and columnist in Latin America, spending most of my time in Colombia, Brazil, and Bolivia. I have reported on various crucial moments in the region’s history, including Brazil’s spiralling police violence (particularly in Bahia and Rio de Janeiro), the re-opening of the Venezuela-Colombia border, the criminal crackdown in El Salvador under Nayib Bukele, the trial of Jair Bolsonaro, Bolivia’s 2025 presidential election and lithium bidding process, Colombia’s post-conflict transition under Gustavo Petro, Guillermo Lasso’s impeachment proceedings and protests, Russian energy deals in Bolivia, and China’s growing economic footprint across South America. In doing so, I have attempted to bring reliable, crucial information to inform public policy and debate, while remaining critical of political, economic, and social structures. I have also written more than 100 opinion columns on various topics in the region, pushing for peace, justice, equality, democracy, human rights, and good governance in the region at critical junctures.
